A little late for this post but it could just as easily be used as a birthday present for someone.  I can’t take credit for the super cute idea…I saw a picture on pinterest and thought it was a great idea.  Oh, and sidenote…if you haven’t discovered pinterest yet, I recommend that you don’t. Not unless you want every ounce of your free time sucked right out of your day.  I could spend HOURS  perusing all the eye candy.  (perusing?)  So now I’ve peaked your curiousity.. but don’t go there yet..you won’t come back here.  And I want to show off my craftiness first.  Pinterest makes me feel like I can be crafty even though I don’t have an ounce of craftiness in me.  None.  Disclaimer…. Every single one of my craft ideas is unoriginal and stolen.  K?

Okay so since we are busting butt on the Dave Ramsey train,(for those of you that don’t know what that means…it means we are cheap but nearly debt-free. Whoop.)  we wanted to make our own Fathers day gift for Chris. I’m sure he was excited about that.  Especially since what he really wanted was a tattoo.  But the kids and I liked it, so that’s what matters, right?  Right.

So the kids and I headed to Micheals with our super crafty selves and $8 later..this is what we came out with.  Yep $8.  The frame was on sale for $4.99 and the scrapbook paper was like $0.49 for each piece.  AND I had a coupon.

And here is what we made! We traced everyones handprint, cut them out and voila!  Work of art!
Fathers Day1

AND Chris loved it.  Like seriously loved it.  Like he hung it up right away and was so proud of it.  :)

I know this is so not photography related but who cares..I thought about posting it on my old blog THIS ONE you all know I’m not good at keeping up with one blog much less two so from here on out….everything goes here. I’m breaking all the rules and NOT keeping business and personal seperate…Rebel.
Okay so anywho….I have been one thrify, frugal momma lately. My hubs and I have been on the Dave Ramsey mission to pay off all of our debt so we are trying to decorate on a dime:) Joshie’s room has pretty much served as a storage area with a crib since we moved in in July{poor neglected bebe}. I have 3 other pieces of furniture in the garage waiting to be redone specifically for his room but…..only so many hours in a day!
So I found this little gem at Goodwill for $14. I am so unbelievably cheap that I actually thought that was waay overprced. I could’ve held out until the next day for the 50% off sale but I was afraid someone would snatch it up before I went back. So I begrudgingly paid the 14 bucks.
Bookshelf

It was pretty gross and dusty but I knew it would be super cute with some fresh paint. SOOO I took my cheap butt down to my basement to go through my old paint cans. I found this hideous color in a back storage area in my basement…I have no idea where it came from or how old but paint doesn’t go bad right? {side note~Don’t throw away your leftover paint!!! GIVE IT TO ME. kthx.}
Green

Then I found this leftover brownish /maroonish stuff that we brought over from when we painted the dining room at the old house.
Brownpaint

Mixed it all together and came up with this purty sage color.
Mixed

It took me a few coats to cover it all and I did a pretty crappy paint job but I wanted it to look somewhat distressed so I didn’t care too much.
First coat

And voila…a cute little corner shelf for my boy to put his toys!! Nothin fancy, but it works~
